Onboard Medical Emergencies in Commercial Air Travel

Commercial air travel all over the world has increased in the last 25-30 years. There are only few contraindications to flying in commercial jet aircraft. Increase in number of passengers travel by air resulting in increase in the rate of on- board medical emergencies, due to long routes and more number of old age passengers. On-board emergencies can result in potential implications for the patient’s medical condition and the operating schedule of the airlines, so it is essential to assess medical condition of passengers prior to travel.
