Analysis and Research on the Effectiveness of Innovative Realism Sketching

The 21st century is an upheaval era in which we are faced with the third industrial evolution; it is also an era of a knowledge-based economy where successes are determined by brain power. Thus, the study breaks traditional sketch teaching procedures and explores an innovative and efficient teaching style called "innovative realism sketching", aiming to improve students' painting techniques and subvert the stereotyped impression of creation. With the current tools and materials, innovative and delicate realism sketch works are done, expecting students to maximize their problem-solving skills and creative thoughts during the process. The study took education theory as the basis and collected data through a case study and in-depth interview so as to improve the teachers' teaching efficiency and quality as well as understand the students' learning experience after their participation in the course. It is expected that the teachers' teaching habit and styles, can serve as references and guidelines for future teaching. . Moreover, teachers are expected to deeply reflect on the importance of innovative teaching through this attempt. Research results are as follows: (1) The degree of study engagement affects learning achievements. (2) Innovative realism sketching is deemed as a new subject and challenge. (3) Motor skills shall be taught in divided phases and in order. (4) The quality of paintings to be copied directly impacts the effectiveness of the sketch works. (5) Real works shall be displayed as sketch work samples. (6) The application of innovative realism sketch technique promotes creation efficiency and quality. (7) Painting techniques can gain maturity through constant practice. (8) The grander the task is, the greater the sense of achievement is. (9) Learning achievements are in direct proportion to interests.
