Contenido de radón en aguas subterráneas del noreste de Gran Canaria

2015
In this work we have determined the levels of 222 Rn in 28 samples from pumping wells in groundwater in northeastern Gran Canaria. The radon activity concentration in a water sample is determined by a closed loop system consisting of an AlphaGUARD monitor that measures the concentration of radon in the air by means of an ionization chamber, and an AquaKIT set that transfers the dissolved radon in the water samples to the air in the circuit. The radon concentration in water samples studied varies between 0.9 and 76.9 Bq/L. Spanish radiological protection regulations limit to 100 Bq/L the concentration of 222 Rn for drinking water. The values obtained for all the analyzed samples are below this threshold.
