A New Integrated Heat Storage and Heat Load Control Method to Erase the Wind Power Curtailment

2020
The coexistence of high penetration CHP(combined heat power) and large-scale wind power generation may cause severe wind power curtailment. However, in the north areas of China, particularly during winter, the application of the thermal energy storage(TES), the elasticity of CHP units operation and the heat load can help to reduce the curtailment. Hence, a new 3-level optimization model is built to realize the collaborative operation of CHP unit, TES equipment and heat load management. Then, On the basis of the two-phase transaction mode composed by traditional energy market and the peak shaving market, the optimal operation mode of CHP unit is proposed to provide peak shaving capacity for wind power curtailment, under a certain approved peak shaving price. At last, the typical influencing factors, including the capacity of TES equipment, different operation modes and peak load shaving price, are analyzed to show the economic benefits of the proposed method.
