A case of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of the uterine cervix.

2001
We report a case of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) of the uterine cervix in a 72-year-old woman. Cytologically, tumor cells had swollen round nuclei, a high N/C ratio, some cells having prominent nucleoli and indistinct cell borders, and associated with lymphocytes, leading to a diagnosis of nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma or CIS. Histologically undifferentiated cancer cells spread from mucosa to the muscle layer with lymphocytes. A high N/C ratio, prominent nucleoli, indistinct cell borders, and lymphocyte accumulations are thus important findings for distinguishing LELC from other tumors.
