Effects of hyperbaric oxygen on bone alkaline phosphatelse and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase in rats with premature ovary failure

Objective To investigate changes of bone metabolism in rats with premature ovary failure (POF) and the effects of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) on bone metabolism.Methods Forty SPF Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:the blank control group,the model control group,the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) group and the HBO group,each consisiting of 10 animals.Except the blank control group,all the other groups were orally given triptegium wilfordii polyglycisidium (TWP) solution to establish premature ovary failure model.And then,rats in the HRT group were given orally estrogen and progestin.Rats in the HBO group were treated with HBO and the same dosage of normal saline.Rats in the control group and the model control group were given orally the same dosage of normal saline.Then,changes of serum bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP) and tartrate-resistant acid phospatase (TRACP) in different groups were observed accordingly.Results When compared with that of the blank control group,the level of BALP in the model control group[(245.24 ± 25.21) ng/L] was decreased significantly (P < 0.01),while the level of TRACP[(3453.69 ± 413.82) pg/L] was increased markedly (P < 0.01).BALP levels of the HRT group [(342.16 ± 18.68) ng/L] and the HBO group [(306.64 ± 22.96) ng/L] were all higher than those of the model control group,while TRACP levels[(1735.48 ± 94.56) and (1889.63 ± 70.81) pg/L] were all lower than those of the model control group [(3453.69 ± 413.82)pg/L],with statistical significance (P < 0.01).Conclusions HBO could affect bone metabolism in rats with premature ovary failure,had enhancing effect on BALP in bone formation,and at the same time had certain suppressing effect on TRACP in its role of bone absorption.
