Depression, anxiety, and quality of life

2021
Abstract Depression and anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric disorders and have a negative impact on the quality of life (QOL). However, there is no standardized measure of QOL for routine clinical practice. Symptom severity of depression and anxiety are key factors for poor QOL. Psychotropics for depression and anxiety and psychotherapy, especially cognitive behavior therapy, are effective in improving QOL. Depression and anxiety symptoms with medical diseases are highly prevalent and commonly undiagnosed and undertreated. Treatment of depression and anxiety in medical conditions is an urgent unmet need.
