Promotion of electrochemical hydrogen storage performance based on two-dimensional black phosphorus nanosheets doped by cobalt

2021
Abstract The effects of cobalt (Co) doping in two-dimensional black phosphorus nanosheets (Co-2D-BP) on its performance of electrochemical hydrogen storage was systematically studied by experiment and theoretical calculation. The band gap of 2D-BP was reduced from 0.9783 eV to 0.4339 eV after Co doping. The maximum discharge capacity of Co-2D-BP reached 6200mAh/g (i.e., hydrogen content reaches up to 18 wt% of Co-2D-BP weight) and about 10.3 times than that of 2D-BP. In addition, the charge–discharge efficiency of 2D-BP and Co-2D-BP can reach more than 90%. The performance improvements of 2D-BP after Co doping could contribute to promote its application in the field of electrochemical hydrogen storage.
