Comparison study of the visual quality after different spherical aberration IOL implantation

2017
Objective To compare the visual quality of different total eye spherical aberration after different spherical aberration IOL implantation. Methods Sixty-three eyes of 55 cases underwent phacoemulsification and IOL implantation. All patients were implanted different spherical aberration IOL based on corneal spherical aberration. According to the different postoperative total eye spherical aberration, patients were divided into 3 groups. Group A, postoperative total spherical aberration was(-0.2±0.05)μm, group B was (0±0.03)μm and group C was(+ 0.1±0.03)μm. Three months after surgery, uncorrected visual acuity, best corrected visual acuity, total high order aberration, modulation transfer function(MTF) and satisfaction of the three groups were compared. Results The differences in postoperative uncorrected visual acuity and the best corrected visual acuity between the three groups were not statistically significant(H=4.418, H=0.050; P=0.110, P=0.975). The difference in high order aberration(HOA) was not statistically significant among the three groups(H=2.637, P=0.268). The difference in MTF was statistically significant among the three groups (P=0.000). The difference in satisfaction was statistically significant among the three groups(F=20.845, P=0.000). Conclusion According to the corneal spherical aberration personalized implanted IOL, making total eye spherical aberration to + 0.1 μm, the surgery may obtain better postoperative visual quality and higher satisfaction.
