Analysis of dermatoglyphic digito-palmar characteristics in patients suffering from idiopathic scoliosis

1983
Our study was focused on the quantitative characteristics of digito-palmar dermatoglyphics in patients suffering from idiopatic scoliosis and in their families. Seventy patients ( and their families) with idiopathic scoliosis have been covered (average age for boys 8, 1 years, for girls 10, 9 years). The quantitaive charachteristics of digito-palmar dermatoglyphics have been compared (and analysed) between a patient and every parent, as well as between patients and their brothers and sisters. Within families of two or more children the inheritance patern has been established. The differnecse in number of reefs for each finger of the scoliotic patient has been analysed as well as reefs of the left and right hand for every patient indicidualy and for control group. The results of dermatoglyphic analysis on our patients were compared with control group of healthy persons (200 men and 200 women).
