Ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for urinary calculi in children
2018
Objective
To evaluate the efficacy of ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy in the treatment of urolithiasis in children.
Methods
72 children with urinary calculi in our hospital were selected as the research objects, and underwent ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy. The operation time, length of stay, major postoperative complications, and stone clearance rate at 3 months after operation were observed, the changes of renal function indexes in children before and after treatment were compared.
Results
The operation time was (33.5±4.3) min, and the hospital stay was (4.2±0.2) d. Postoperative avulsion occurred in 1 case, infection in 1 case, hematuria in 2 cases, without ureteral perforation cases, the incidence of complications was 5.56%. Follow up for 3 months, there were 68 cases of stone removal, stone clearance rate was 94.44%. There were no statistically significant differences in renal function indexes (urea nitrogen and creatinine) before and after treatment (P>0.05).
Conclusion
Ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy for urinary calculi in children is satisfactory, safe, and reliable.
