Causes of tachypnea in early neonatal period: Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection -

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a very rare congenital cardiovascular malformation. The most common clinical findings in the early neonatal period are tachypnea and central cyanosis. The prognosis is pretty good with early diagnosis and treatment. We aimed to emphasize the presence of TAPVC as one of the reasons of neonatal respiratory distress presenting a newborn admitted with the complaints of tachypnea and cyanosis to our center, diagnosed to have TAPVC and completely treated with surgery.
