DETERMINING ANTIMICROBIAL POTENTIAL OF LACTOBACILLUS CASEI STRAINS AGAINST SOME HUMAN PATHOGENIC BACTERIA

2012
In present study, samples of dairy products were collected from different areas of Jodhpur. 20 isolates of Lactobacillus were isolated on MRS agar medium. Several biochemical and physiological tests were performed for identification for these isolates. These isolates were screened for their antimicrobial activity against some human pathogenic bacteria by using agar well diffusion method. Only isolate no. 3 and 9 were found to be effective against most of the pathogens. The 16s rRNA sequencing of these isolates was done and the sequences were submitted in NCBI Genbank database. From all the results we conclude that the isolates no. 3 and 9 were L.casei and these showed significant antimicrobial activity against pathogens.
