Investigation of first hospital infection event of H1N1 influenza in mainland.

OBJECTIVE To summary the experience and provide reference for control and prevention of H1N1 influenza in hospital.METHODS We investigated by interview and telephone survey and conducted a case-control study.Impatients,family member and medical staff exposed to pediatric surgery ward from Aug 11th to 18th were investigated.Cases who got the H1N1 influenza were included.RESULTS 26.5%(35/132) were included,including 12 confirmed cases and 23 suspected cases.and no severe case.The first case was a child inpatients who got ILI symptoms before admission on Aug 11th.Onset day of the 35 cases was from Aug 7th to 17th.There are significant statistical difference(χ2=13.14,P0.01) in incidences of children inpatients(46.2%),family members(19.6%),doctors(26.3%) and nurses(5.6%)group.12 out of 25 throat swabs,were dettcted out H1NH virus including 7 children inpatients,1 family member,3 doctors and 1 nurse.Exposed to contaminated room,stayed in patients ward for a long time,exposed to patients in a short distance were the risk factors.CONCLUSIONS This hospital infection is introduced by a inpatients infected H1N1 virus before admission.Infected medical staff working and exposure to same place can spread the virus.
