Clinical research on secondary suspended intraocular lens implantation after ocular injury with Lensectomy-Vitrectomy

2012
Objective To evaluate the effect of secondary suspended intraocular lens implantation sulcus fixation after complicated ocular injury with lensectomy-vitrectomy. Methods Thirty-six eyes of ocular injury were subjected to lensectomy-vitrectomy,those were subjected to the secondary suspended intraocular lens implantation 3 to 6 months later. All cases were postoperative follow-up for 3 to 24 months. Results The 36 eyes were successfully implanted intraocular lens. The postoperative best-corrected vision of 36 eyes was reached or higher than the level of preoperative. The main complications were vitreous hemorrhage, ocular hypertension, intraocular lens deflection, residual silicone oil adhesion to intraocular lens particles, fixed suture exposure, erosion and so on. Conclusions The secondary suspended intraocular lens implantation sulcus fixation in eyes with no lens capsular support is a safe and reliable surgery for ocular injury after lensectomy-vitrectomy and this is a better treatment to correct refractive errors in Aphakic eyes.
