Acoustic pyrometry: new boiler diagnostic tool

1989
Acoustic pyrometry may offer significant advantages over conventional high-temperature flue gas temperature measurement techniques and can be considered for use as both an operating diagnostic and R D tool. Acoustic pyrometry is easy to use and accurate, and offers the potential for continuous real-time temperature monitoring. Systems can also be applied on low-temperature regions down-stream of the boiler, and can help identify and correct burner problems, slagging problems and furnace overheating. As an R D tool it can be used to help apply and enhance the performance of temperature dependent in-furnace emissions control technologies and, potentially, for a variety of other problems. 4 figs.
