A Brief History of Bariatric Surgery to the Present
2017
Massive obesity results in serious diseases. Surgery has frequently been the only means to achieve and sustain significant weight loss. A brief history of bariatric operations is given, including their major complications, management and potential nutritional sequelae. This ascends to the development of the MGB and OAGB. Because type 2 diabetes frequently improves or resolves postoperatively, related operations are now being investigated in patients with lesser weight.
