Nutritional Modulation of Aging

Aging and nutrition are major factors influencing disease vulnerability. This article focuses on the links between longevity and calorie intake. We discuss the role of adipose tissues in regulating metabolism and systemic inflammation and describe some of the factors that may be important in protecting against disease vulnerability. Current perspectives on nonhuman primate and human studies are presented. We conclude with emerging themes and possible future direction of research into the nutritional modulation of aging.
