The Relationship between Burnout 、Personality and General Self-efficacy among medical personnel

Objective To assess burnout and its influencing factors among medical personnel,so as to supply evidence for improving the condition of mental health. Methods A survey was carried out by using the MBI-GS、EPQ-RSC and the GSES in 1512 medical personnel. Results The prevalence of severe burnout was 9.46% and of mild burnout59.72%. Nurse’s burnout are lower than Doctor(P<0.05). The burnout of 11~working age group is the highest(P<0.01), and there is a significant difference between different departments in(P<0.001). Men’s general self-efficacy are higher than women(P<0.01). The self-efficacy of 20~working age group was significantly higher than the others(P<0.05). The dimensions of burnout was positively correlated with Psychoticism and Neuroticism, but negatively correlated with Extraversion、Lie and General self-efficacy. Personality and self-efficacy have significant predictive effect on burnout dimensions. The differences of burnout among four types of personality were statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion The burnout of medical personnel is serious. Risk factors for burnout were working age(10~working age group)and department(emergency, Surgery, pediatrics and mental hygiene). Nurses’ s burnout higher than doctor.Medical personnel with introverted and emotionally unstable are most prone to burnout. The personality characteristics and self-efficacy can predict job burnout in some extent.
