Terahertz metamaterials wave separator

A miniaturized terahertz (THz) metamaterials wave separator with the structure of four uniform units in z direction is proposed. The unit has three layers of gold (Au)-silicon dioxide (SiO 2 )-polymethacrylimide (PMA) from up to down. Perfect steep cut-off has been achieved, and the transmittance of the device is reduced from 80% to 5% within 0.06THz. It inherits the advantages of optical filter to realize THz frequency separation with low energy loss. The excellent property can be applied in THz wavelength division multiplexing filter banks.
