Initiating Research Skills in Undergraduate Students Through Data Science Projects

This paper presents the work of several undergraduate students who have learned and practiced linear regression and data clustering over a period of 5 weeks. The projects completed by the students are on linear regression applied to various datasets available on Internet, and demonstrate the ability of collecting data, literature reviewing, research designing. Moreover, the student’s professional development has been enhanced including clarifying career path, better understanding research process, and scientific thinking.
