The research progress of cancer genome sequencing

Cancer is a complex disease caused by genetic, environmental and other factors. Different cancer patients, even different cells of the same cancer patients, have unique genetic mutations, resulting in a great challenge in cancer research, treatment and detection. However, the rapid development of high-throughput sequencing technology makes it possible to perform cancer research in molecular level with vast amount of samples. Currently, researchers have obtained a lot of achievements by sequencing and analyzing the cancer genome data. The accumulated genome data have created a new challenge in making full use of these data resource. This article reviews the current situation and analysis of research progress in cancer genome sequencing data, and explores prospective of utilizing large-scale cancer genome data resource. Hopefully this article will promote the integration and re-utilization of genetic data resource. Key words: Cancer genome; Sequencing data; Variation analysis; Data mining
