Vampire stories are then confusions and misunderstandings of the best kind: they reveal the world of power and uncertainty in which Africans have lived in this century. Their very falseness is what gives them meaning: they are a way of talking that encourages a reassessment of everyday experience to address the workings of power and knowledge and how regimes use them.
