A TECHNIQUE FOR MEASURING THE NEUTRON CAPTURES IN BORON AND URANIUM-235

A technique to measure the neutron captures in B and U/sup 235/ was developed on the basis of a calibration of the (n, gamma ) reaction with a known neutron flux. Experiments which were conducted in the Plastic Mockup Assembly to measure the neutron captures in fuel and spiked poison in slab cores PMA-44, -45, and -46 are described. (D.L.C.)
