High energy-resolution spectrometer LAM-80ET

1997
Abstract At KENS (the neutron scattering facility at the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics, KEK, Japan), in 1980, a pulsed neutron source with a thermal moderator and a cold moderator of solid methane at 20 K was constructed with fifteen new neutron spectrometers [Neutron News Vol. 3 p. 8 (1992)]. In 1989, K. Inoue designed a new time-of-flight (TOF) neutron scattering spectrometer LAM-80ET and installed it at KENS [1]. It is a very efficient spectrometer with the highest energy-resolution of any spectrometer at KENS. In the following sections, we will report the performance and some experimental results which illustrate the high performance of this spectrometer.
