The Effect of Natriuretic Material Isolated from Urine of ECF-Expanded Subjects on (Na + K) ATPase of Rat Kidney Fractions

The existence of a humoral substance that is secreted in response to saline administration, the so-called natriuretic hormone, was indicated by the original cross-circulation experiments of De Wardener et al. [5]. Ever since then several attempts have been made to isolate natriuretic material from blood and urine extracts after ECF-volume expansion and to find a suitable assay for it.
