Admittance-Based Structural Health Monitoring of Pipeline for Damage Assessment

2022
This paper reveals the experimental evaluation on the usage of electromechanical impedance techniques in pipeline structures. Pipelines are damaged due to its exposure to landslides, corrosion, overloading and earthquakes. To overcome this situation, the pipelines must be monitored continuously to avoid such damage. PZT (lead zirconate titanate) patch is used for sensing the damage in the structure. The most effective method in structural health monitoring for damage detection is electromechanical impedance technique. Impedance chip is used for structural health monitoring using this technique. The admittance measurements are measured using impedance chip. The results indicate that output obtained from the impedance chip is accurate. Damage detection in pipeline structure using impedance chip is the novel method in this proposed paper.
