Corrosion Chemical Kinetics in Galvanized steels

2020
Corrosion of galvanized steels as an empirical mechanism has long been known. Formalizing empirical knowledge is longstanding The economic results resulting from the corrosive action make it necessary to develop a more expeditious method for its evaluation. In this work is presented a STATISTIC MATHEMATIC MODEL that considers a canonical macro ensemble, built in laboratory scale to estimate the life of galvanized materials performing their functions in atmospheric environment and in the presence of electric voltage and electric arc. The MODEL is presented as a differential equation of the corrosion mechanism, constructed as a Gibbs Ensemble and treated with data from an experiment conducted in a thermodynamically closed device. The paper presents the theoretical foundations of the model and compares results of an experiment conducted with a qualifying device such as canonical macro ensemble, with useful indication for comparing experiments in long term field installations.
