Analysis of utilization of anthypertensive drugs in outpatients

Objective: To probe into the utilization of antihypertensives in outpatients in our hospital.Methods: The outpatient antihypertensive prescriptions in our hospital in Octo.2010 were collected for a statistical analysis in respect of the drug kinds,dosage and combined use of antihypertensives.Results: Calcium antagonists,β-receptor blocking agents and Angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonists were predominatly used as antihypertensive drugs in our hospital.In terms of DDDs,Nifedipine controlled release tablet,Amlodipine and valsartan ranked among the first 3 places among all the antihypertensive drugs,with their drug utilization indexes all less than 1(DUI≤1).About half of the antihypertensives were used in combination,mostly the combination of calcium antagonists with β-receptor blocking agents.Conclusion: The outpatient use of antihypertensives in our hospital is rational on the whole however,great importance should be attached to the drug interactions between antihypertensives if used in combination.
