Therapeutic effects of sulodexide combined with irbesartan on elderly hypertensions with renal injury

2011
Objective To investigate the effects of combination therapy of sulodexide and irbesartan on early stage renal injury caused by elderly primary hypertension, and to seek new treatment method for primary hypertensive kidney injury. Methods 76 patients with essential hypertension with early stage renal injury were randomly divided into control group(n =38) and combined treatment group(n =38).The control group was treated with irbesartan(irbesartan 150 mg/d),and the treatment group received the combination therapy of sulodexide and irbesartan(sulodexide 250 LSU bid, irbesartan 150 mg/d).After 8 weeks, urine microalbumin, levels of creatinine, plasma fibrinogen, prothrombin time, activated partial thrombin time, triglyceride, and total cholesterol were measured and compared between the two groups. Results After eight weeks of treatment, the excretion value of mieroalbuminria in two groups patients were reduced obviously(P 0.05),with significant difference in combined treatment group compare with control group(P 0.05).Plasma fibrinogen, triglycerin, and total cholesterol were obviously decreased in Sulodexide + irbesartan group compared with control group after 8 weeks'treatment(P 0.05).There was no significant difference in serum creatinine in two groups after treatment than pre - treatment(P 0.05 ).Conclusion Sulodexide combined irbesartan is safe and effective in treating early stage renal injury caused by elderly primary hypertensives, and the results are significantly more effective than those treated with irbesartan alone.
