In this retrospective, study, the authors study the epidemiological, diagnostic and thearpeutic aspects of 83 cases of colon cancer collected between january 1991 and June 1999. There were 50 men and 33 women, the mean age was 52 yars old, with 23% of the patients aged under 40 years olsd. The mean delay between the first symptoms and diagnosis was 6 months. Thes most frequent symptomatology was a damage of the general state (48%), abdominal pain (46%), bowel disorders (43%), occlusion (41%) and low digetive hemorrhages (34%). 73 patients underwent laparotomy (88%), 34 underwent surgery on immedialety (41%). Excision has been possible in 67 patients (92%), 64 excisions were curative, it was about 47 left colectomies and 17 right colectomies, 3 palliative excisions and 3 palliative interventions without excisions. The whole operative mortality represented 5,5% and the morbidity represented 15%. Adjuvant chemotherapy was used in 52% of stage C of Dukes classification. Only 10 patients after operation have been followed-up with a delay of 3 to 12 months.
