The target cells of IL-33 effects and its roles in parasite infection immunity
2013
IL-33 is a novel member of IL-1 cytokine family and mediates its biological effects via the ST2 receptor, which is selectively expressed on Th2 cells and mast cells.IL-33 leads to activation of T-helper type 2 cells, mast cells, dendritic cells, eosinophils, and basophils, ultimately leading to increased expression of cytokines.Cytokine-mediated immunity plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of various inflammation and parasitic diseases. So here we reviewed the target cells of the biological effects of IL-33 in parasitic infection.
