Analysis of flood carrying capacity of the middle and lower reaches of Weihe River in 2009

Based on the analysis of the measured results at monitoring sections in middle reaches in March,2009 and also the measured results at the lower reaches before flood season,by modification of the water level with discharge relation in typical sections,and check of the beach elevation and embankment,using Manning formula hydraulic factors,the flood carrying capacity in each river section of the middle and lower reaches of Weihe River were calculated.Besides,the water level~flow rate relationship method was used to verify the computing results.Combining the practical situation of emergency flood control over the years,the flood carrying capacities in each river section of the middle and lower reaches of Weihe River in 2009 were determined by comprehensive analysis: 4200 m3/s for Baoji reach,5300 m3/s for Yangling,Xianyang and xi'an reaches.The results can provide the basis for flood control prediction scheme in the middle and lower reaches of Weihe River in 2009 and have important reference value for emergency flood control works.
