Study on environmental monitoring of flooding time using drone and UAV

Countries in monsoon climates cause a flood every year during the rainy season. In order to do environmental monitoring under such conditions, it is necessary for the special UAV installing waterproof equipment to be able to takeoff from the water and to land safely on the water. In this study, A lightweight landing foot for drone including data logger system was designed, and the landing and drop-crash tests showed that the developed landing design could promise safe-landing in water. A navigation system was developed with multiple- Megaboard which have many open-source software including magnet compass, gyro, and GPS. Successfully using the CPU boards with proper filters is possible even though there are many disadvantages such as large noise, small memery, and slow data transmission. In the project, fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft were tested indoors and outdoors as platforms. Changes in the water area were observed from the oblique images. With the oblique photos, the backpropagation analysis were performed to find safer landing place to catch sampling water for water quality monitoing. The wind tunnel design was also completed to conduct wind tunnel tests to reduce labers and costs of UAV development.
