Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Tube Placement
2020
When a patient is required to have assistance with nutrition, a gastric tube may be indicated. The feeding tube can be inserted in the stomach or the proximal jejunum. When a gastrostomy tube is chosen, the procedure can be performed with the aid of the laparoscope, open or percutaneously at the bedside of the intensive care unit with the aid of a gastroscope. Several steps need to be performed to ensure the correct position of the tube and the safety of the procedure. The following chapter describes a PEG tube placement.
