Aquaponics in Plant Factory

Abstract Aquaponics is one of the food production systems that combined recirculating aquaculture system and hydroponic system by the utilization of waste material excreted from fish as a liquid fertilizer for valued hydroponic vegetables and seaweeds. The plant factory using artificial light has the potentials of stable production and ensuring safety by closed environment and its control. The production method based on the material flow between the different production systems is vitally important for success of the productions. In this section, water management and control of material flow for production in aquaponics were explained and newly aquaponics productions with saline water and artificial light were introduced.
