SERS-based Lateral Flow Assay for Quantitative Sensing of Protein Biomarkers

2021
The remarkable optical properties of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has prompted the design and fabrication of SERS nanoparticles as biosensing and imaging labels. Among a variety of biosensing assay platforms within the growing point of care technology (POCT) field, lateral flow assays (LFA) has gained significant attention because of their simplicity, low cost, and user-friendly assay protocols. Herein, we show the development and performance benchmarking of SERS-based LFA for rapid and quantitative sensing of two important biomarkers: hCG and cTnT. The results suggest the feasibility of this platform for POCT applications.
