An electropolymerized membrane for a glucose sensor

1988
A thin, strongly adherent polymer membrane was electrochemically formed on the surface of a Pt electrode. Its purpose was to protect the electrode from macromolecular and middle molecular weight substances that may interfere with glucose sensing. A cyclic voltammetric scanning program, which maintained the sensitivity and stability of the electrode, was used to evaluate the glucose response of the covered electrode. Although small molecules from serum were able to diffuse across the membrane and increase the background current in the voltammogram, the linear response of the glucose signal was not affected. >
