In-Vitro study of Antioxidant and Anticancer Activities of New 5-Ethyl Ester of Ferulic Acid Molecule

A new molecule of Ethyl ester of Ferulic acid was synthesized and Screened for biological activities .In the present study the antioxidant and anticancer activities of new molecule were studied.The antioxidant activity of new molecule Ethyl ester of Ferulic acid was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl free radical scavenging activity,scavenging of hydrogen peroxide,reducing power method,scavenging of nitric oxide and the calculated IC50 values for new molecule and reference standard Gallic acid were (54.6μg/ml,0.14μg/ml for DPPH method),(47.2μg/ml,5.60μg/ml for nitric oxide method).The cytotoxic studies indicate that the new molecule inhibit HeLa(cervical cancer) cell viability in a dose dependent manner.The IC50values calculated were 86.2 μg/ml for new molecule,9.165μg/ml for standard drug cisplatin.These findings reveal that the new molecule Ethyl ester of Ferulic acid has good cytotoxic and antioxidant activities and could be an alternate candidate for the development of new biologically active compounds.
