2 dimensional effects of laser induced shockwaves in aluminum

2008
The time development of laser induced shockwaves in aluminum targets was measured for different foil thicknesses. The shockwave geometry changes for 1D to 2D according to the foil thickness. The deduced shockwave velocity shows a ‘‘strange’’ behavior when the geometry changes from 1D to 2D.
