Modification of Imaging Algorithm for Oil-water Flow in a Horizontal Tube Based on CAT Data

2014
It is useful to generate images from logging data of oil-water two-phase flow in horizontal wells obtained by capacitance array tool(CAT).But the quality of the images come from the existing modified multiphase flow imaging algorithm is closely related to the source of logging data.It is good for data comes from a certain instrument,at the same time,it is bad for data comes from the other one.Firstly, the paper analyzes the shortage of the existing algorithm, the inconsistency of the twelve sensors obtained in CAT and the flow pattern characteristic. The author thinks it should consider these factors when designing imaging algorithm. Then,it introduces the results of oil-water flow experiments in horizontal and nearly horizontal tube. That is,the flow pattern is static flow with smooth interface or wavy interface when the total flow rate is less than 300m3/d.For oil-water two-phase flow in horizontal wells, the paper proposed a new imaging algorithm which is interpolate only in region neighboring interphase interface. The result generated from the practical data indicates that the new algorithm is efficient and stable.
