KAPLICA TEDAVİSİ SONUÇLARIMIZ

2020
OBJECTIVE: Physical therapy agents and exercises have an important place in the physical medicine and rehabilitation clinics, especially in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain. It is thought that the addition of balneotherapy to these methods in clinics where spa treatment is available may increase the effectiveness of some factors such as the efficacy of the treatment, compliance with treatment, and quality of life, especially in the elderly patient group. Our aim in this study is to discuss the characteristics of patients suffering from musculoskeletal pain and added to the spa therapy in our hospital for their physical therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Hospital system records were examined retrospectively. The data of patients who had received spa treatments were found and recorded according to their diagnoses and characteristics. The data of the patients are presented as number, percentage, mean, standard deviation and maximum-minimum values. RESULTS: The number of patients who received physical therapy due to their musculoskeletal pain and who were added to spa treatment was found as 5814 for 4 years. The most common diagnosis with 56.35% among these patients was lumbar intervertebral disc disorders. CONCLUSIONS: In addition to medication and physical therapies, spa treatment can be added to the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal pain. Our study has focused on characteristics of patients and diagnosis groups; however, for further studies, evaluating the efficacy of the treatment and patient compliance may be studied.
