Application of the 3S Technology in Finite Element Numerical Simulation of Geological Structure - Take Southwest China as an Example

2012
Based on the previous studies, through the geological interpretation of remote sensing images, the field geological survey and the analysis of historical earthquakes, large-scale fracture data in southwest China is obtained. Based on the data, a Tibetan Plateau crust model consisted of 6 crustal blocks was designed with the GPS data as the judgment basis in imposing and testing the rationality of the boundary conditions. By using the finite element numerical simulation method, according to the mechanical properties of earthquakes, this paper analyzes the border effect of the surrounding plates or crustal blocks, calculates the stress distribution under such combination of the crustal blocks and the border effect, and then analyzes China's strong earthquake region. Applying the 3S technology to the finite element numerical simulation analysis not only provides the data sources for the study of the geological model and the basis for the boundary conditions, but also enables the change of traditional numerical simulation methods from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis. With the in-depth development of the large-scale parallel computing, the attempt to make the DEM data as the surface model data of the finite element numerical simulation will largely enhance the authenticity and predictability of the simulation results.
