[001] Oriented BifeO 3 -Based Lead-Free Ceramic with a Rapid Piezoelectric Response Under Low Poling Voltage

[001]-orientation BaTiO3 (BT) templates modified (1-χ)BiFeO3-χBaTiO3 (χ = 0.2, 0.3 0.4; BF-BT) ceramics were prepared by templated grain growth (TGG) method. BT templates existed stably in less BF ceramics, resulting in the highest orientation value of 72% for 0.6BiFeO3-0.4BaTiO3. The first principle theory demonstrated that larger distortion of electronic density generated after adding BT templates, which was identified with the experimental. The domain of textured 0.7BiFeO3-0.3BaTiO3 (0.7BFBT-T) switched more quickly and easily than random one. Therefore, the poling electric field (Ep) of 0.7BFBT-T (2.5 kV/mm) was much lower than reported BF-based samples (4-5 kV/mm). The d33 value that of 0.7BFBT-T was 1.80 times that of random one when polarized at 1 kV/mm for 20 minutes. A very rapid piezoelectric response of 0.7BFBT-T was observed, the d33 value of 0.7BFBT-T reached 96% when polarized at 2.5 kV/mm for 1 minute.
