Compositions for preventing or treating of eye diseases

The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating eye diseases containing adiponectin as an active ingredient. The adiponectin used as the active ingredient for the present invention promotes the generation of tears, smoothens the unevenness on the surface of the cornea, reduces the inflammatory cytokine from the surface of the eyeball and the lachrymal gland, and increases the number of goblet cells of the conjunctiva for ultimately preventing and treating eye diseases including xerophthalmia, inflammatory eye diseases, and side effects of eyes caused by contact lenses. The composition of the present invention can be used as a cleaning agent or a lubricating agent with lubricating activity for the abacterial inflammation and eye contact caused by the contact lenses.
