Stomal recurrence of cervical cancer after pelvic exenteration

2021
Abstract Parastomal recurrence of carcinoma is rare and has never previously been reported after a pelvic exenteration. We present a case report of a young patient who was diagnosed with cervical cancer and required a multidisciplinary approach to perform a pelvic exenteration resulting in urostomy and colostomy creation. Postoperatively, she developed an early recurrence of cancer solely on her ostomy site, requiring return to the operating room for excision. This has previously never been reported in the literature and is likely from direct implantation of the tumor, similar to port site tumors.
