Role of thin-slice multidetector spiral CT scan and window technology in the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis

2013
Objective To discuss the role of thin-slice multidetector spiral CT scan and window technology in the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. Methods 70 cases of acute pancreatitis confirmed by clinical, laboratory examination were collected. The CT images of conventional abdominal image with thickness of 7 mm,1 mm and adjusted window width, window level were evaluated by two senior doctors. The CT features, such as obscure peripancreatic fat tissue, effusion surrounding pancreas, thickening of renal fascia were considered as positive features of acute pancreatitis. Results The positive rate of acute pancreatitis was higher under thickness of 1mm,adjusted window width 100~200 HU,window level-40~-20 HU than that under conventional window width and window level(χ2=13.76,P0.05).Conclusion Adjusting window width and window level with thickness of 1 mm image was helpful to show more positive features of acute pancreatitis, which improves the value of CT in clinical diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
