Effect of adjuvant on somatostatin (SRIF) antibody production in calves

Production of SRIF-antibodies was determined in 18 steer calves immunized against SRIF-conjugate prepared in Freund's, Alhydrogel or Havlogen adjuvant. Freund's adjuvant elevated (P < 0.05) antibody titers between the first booster (wk 6) and termination (wk 24) of the experiment. Alhydrogel and Havlogen adjuvants also elevated (P < 0.05) titers, but only between wk 8 and 10. Key words: Somatostatin, SRIF, adjuvant, SRIF-immunization, SRIF-antibody
