Urinary Diversion in Malignant Disease

Two themes run through the whole of this book; be sure that diversion is really indicated and if it is, try to select the diversion most suited to the individual patient. When a bladder must be removed the only problem is to choose the type of diversion but in many patients with advanced malignant disease one must answer the question — is diversion indicated at all? This problem is discussed in detail later in this chapter.
