Unusual Uncontrolled Emergence Delirium in a Young Adult after Open Bursectomy

2018
Emergence delirium is an acute change in cognition and attention, which may include alterations in consciousness and disorganized thinking that can occur in the early post-anesthetic period. The causes of postoperative emergence delirium are not yet clear. Because there are many predisposing and precipitating risk factors of emergence delirium, it is difficult to prevent completely. We experienced a case of emergence delirium which could not be controlled with propofol, midazolam and fentanyl, but improved with haloperidol, the antipsychotic agent.
